Top 10 PowerPoint
slide tips
For
Presentation
Decide on Visuals and Create an Outline
With
your presentation goals in mind, create an outline for your presentation. Once
you have determined the visuals you want, gather them in one place so you can
easily identify them. If necessary you can create charts and graphs from your
Excel data.
Think about the slides
The next step is to think
about the slides that should be included in your presentation. For example, if
you have created a session for your students, information about your students
must be shared.
Pay attention to the design
PowerPoint and other presentation packages
offer all sorts of things to add a visual flash to your slides. Fade, flashing
text and other annoyances are all very easy to insert with a few mouse clicks.
Place
dark text on a light background
It must be easy to
read. If you must use a dark background make sure your text is light enough and
large the font size.
Create your own
color scheme
PowerPoint themes include
an original set of colors. Like a pair of fonts, many of its color sets are
slightly mixed. You can also copy the colors of any ad or image you like. Don't
use more than five original colors so that your presentation doesn't look
messy.
Make
your title; no description or paragraph
To get ideas on how to improve PowerPoint,
your slideshows should always end with a meaningful quote so that people can
think about the presentation.
Left or right text alignment and avoid
clutter
Reading the text in the center seems hard and
amateurish. Line all your text to the right or left baseline. It looks better
and will be easier to follow.
Highlight
images
Many
PowerPoint slides include placeholders for images. Most of these placeholders
are quite small compared to the whole slide. If you have important images in
your presentation, try to cover their entire slide. You may not be able to
include too much text on these slides, but displaying accurate images can be an
effective tool to reinforce an important aspect of your presentation.
Use
a maximum of 15 to 16 slides
The average presentation slot lasts one hour.
It takes a minimum of two minutes to present a slide. You have enough time to
effectively present 15 slides. Just fix your story to the main points and take
the rest of the slides to the appendix as a break.
Make sure your call to action
Make sure your call has action and ask questions with specific
instructions on what to do on your last slide.
